HOK site before the new magazine format.

HOK site after the new magazine format

Reader Response

This is wonderful!

I love HOK! At first I was thinking it was too small to read and the pages were cut off (didn't see all the way out to the edge of the pages) but then I clicked on a page and saw how to navigate around and really like the technology (you) are using. You can read it all and not have to worry about how it fits on your computer screen. I like it. Some great articles as well. Just wanted to say – job well done!

I accessed all the magazines that I ordered online...the magazines are beautiful and are filled with excellent information on the breeds, training, health, etc. What a wonderful publishing, keep it up. Thank you

Oh my, what a cool website. It has such potential, and the magazine is...and always has been...a visual delight. I like the fact that you can link the advertiser to their website. It is fabulous and the latest in terms of keeping out front with streaming video.

That was exciting! I've never seen a website like that. It was really easy to use and absolutely beautiful! What a lovely surprise after work this evening! I was a little skeptical at first about how you might keep the unique HOK flavor, but my goodness, that did the job! I love being able to just flip the pages, but still get the zoom to read easily. It was pretty idiot proof, I think. It loaded very quickly and easily (I'm using DSL)... I've wandered around in it a bit now, and the first word that comes to mind is magical! I was utterly captivated. It is so beautiful, and such an unusual experience the way it all works. The picture quality seems to lose nothing over the print version. The entire site is just a total feast for the senses! I can't wait for all the links to be up and running!...I will spend the rest of the weekend browsing around and soaking up the rich colors. I think you have continued a very special magazine here and I wish you all the best luck and success with it!

WOW, that was a cool online magazine! Beautiful layout and very well designed. You keep the page flipping, magazine feel. I would advertise and I would pay a fee to have access. I currently work in the green/environment/sustainability sector and I think it is great that organizations are moving towards going green. With gas prices going up, prices to deliver/ship anything will increase. I liked the online design. Its user friendly. Easily zoomable etc. I love it!

I actually think it is really cool. The site is very easy to use and the zoom is fantastic. It loaded up quickly and I am using comcast on explorer. I don't know if I would want to buy individual copies, but I would buy a year long commitment or the whole magazine community is great. I would like to be able to look up past issues. I don't have anything to advertise, so that doesn't apply :) Good luck!

I think that is the coolest thing ever! I'm proud of you, what got you going on that? I wish I would have given you that idea, then I'd be the hero! I'm just kidding about that, but I do think it's awesome. Now I may need to subscribe.

Wow...brilliant...love the concept! I wouldn't change a thing.

So I am totally not a horse person (love horses and their beauty, know nothing about them)...but SO COOL! I loved it!

Ok, about the HOK e-zine!!! I was completely blown away at how professional and well organized it is. I absolutely loved the page turning user interface, good choice! The homepage and e-zine pages loaded very quickly, clear and very nicely. I can see where the magnification will come in handy to read the articles but it works and I believe the readers will utilize this function. I would advertise and the cost of the advertising would most likely be more affordable so I would advertise more often and with larger ads. You have alot of content capability and again I cannot say enough about the page turning user interface, it works and it works well! Awesome....

Also, as requested, I viewed your online magazine. Very amazing. Took only a moment or two to come on and what an amazing experience. My only suggestion is that everyone viewing it needs a larger monitor screen to better see the gorgeous photos and layout. It was easy to move around and navigate, even for a person of my computer skills. I would seriously consider advertising in this venue.

I was very impressed with the online version of the magazine. I have written for online magazines on several occasions and one of the problems I feel is losing the sense of it being a magazine along with the endless scrolling down. However, the format you've chosen really works in keeping the reading experience of a hard copy magazine. I was very impressed with it...one of the aspects of HofK I've always liked best is the sheer glossy beauty of it, which is linked to the wonderful images of horses and the high quality of presentation overall - I thought you might have lost this by going online, but you haven't. I thought it was very effective in every way.

I would have to admit that at first I was very skeptical being somewhat old-fashioned and traditional, but the overall impression is very good. It is definitely convenient and I love the idea of saving paper and costs. I would regret not having the printed magazine in hand when I wanted to show it to someone but there is the convenience of being able to tell someone to get on the internet to look up a particular ad you might be running or a particular article you might want to share when they might not have a copy of the magazine. Your magazine has always been so beautiful that I will regret not having it as a coffee table piece but there are always compromises to even the best of things. I can't tell you instantly to go jumping off this cliff. I like it better as an adjunct to the magazine hard copy but I know that is not practical nor does it accomplish the goal of saving trees. I would be very interested to hear other responses on this issue. You are certainly inventive and out in front of things on this issue. If this were an ordinary magazine, I would give you green flags allthe way. It's just that yours is so special.
